What is a polymerization furnace?

Without fusing, the powder paint will remain just a powder, and will fall off after a while. It must be fused into a homogeneous film. This process is called polymerization, which takes place under the influence of high temperatures uniformly distributed throughout the entire space, i.e., in the oven.

So let’s start to understand the details and nuances.

How does polymerization take place?

In the case of powder materials, the chemical reaction is driven by heat, but in different cases other factors can be involved. Monomer molecules are sequentially connected to the molecule-active center. The main stages of molecular changes are: initiation, chain growth, termination, transfer.

For the first glance, everything happens like this – the paint melts due to heating to a temperature of 160 – 180°C. Air and other gases come out of it. When this indicator is reached, the product is kept inside for 10 minutes. The resulting film penetrates the surface of the product and fills all possible cavities. It needs time to thicken.

Why do you need a polymerization furnace?

Without the conditions described above, the chemical reaction will not occur. Smart Line hardening chambers provide heating up to 250°C. The company develops them individually for each client. You can order the type of heating using a thermo-block or quartz lamps. The client also chooses the heating source – electricity, gas or diesel.

The structure itself is made of sandwich panels folded into each other and glued with heat-resistant silicone. Stone wool, as an insulation, prevents the equipment from heating the external environment and losing excess energy. The equipment has a convection fan and a control panel. Therefore, maintain the required temperature mode is very easy. A sound indicator will notify you when baking is complete. Defective products will occur much less frequently.
