Polymerization oven: features, design, process of work

The polymerization oven is a necessary equipment for powder coating of products. Polymerization ovens are special heating devices that are used to create a coating layer of powder paint applied to a surface by reflowing it. When powder paint begins to melt at a temperature of more than one hundred degrees, it forms a viscous film. With prolonged heating in a powder paint polymerization oven, it penetrates into all surface irregularities and hardens. This produces a coating with the maximum adhesion rate.

The polymerization oven is designed for both automatic and manual lines.

Polymerization oven design

The entire construction of polymerization ovens is made of sandwich panels. That makes it possible to quickly and high-quality assembly at the customer’s site (like a Lego constructor). And also in the future, it has the ability to increase, build up the furnace in length, according to the client’s needs, as well as dismantle and move to another site.

System device:

The frame part is made of sheet metal with a thickness of 1.2-1.5 mm, the inner sheathing is made of galvanized steel, the outer elements are powder coated. The inner cavity of the walls is filled with heat-insulating material

The furnace heating type is provided in 3 variants, depending on the client’s needs: electricity (heating elements, IR lamps), gas, diesel.

View 1. A dead-end polymerization oven or through passage (quartz lamp heating element) with convection.

Heating type: incandescent lamp quartz infrared radiation 230 V-1.0 kW. The lamps are connected in parallel with each other, 6-8 pieces in one lamp block. Monitoring the health of the lamps, it is checked visually when opening the doors.

Automatic control panel – 1 pc.

The control panel provides the ability to configure the following parameters:

heating temperature from 20-250 °С;
baking time from 0-30 minutes
delta temperature difference from 0-10 °С.

The control panel carries out:

supply of voltage to control elements;
temperature measurement and regulation;
control of electric heaters.

The control panel is used to control the technological process and display:

temperature controller setting mode;
temperature controller programming mode;
real temperature in the chamber;
set temperature of the technological process;
set time of temperature control;
currently running mode (“PROGRAMMING”, “HEATING”, “SHUTTER”);
indication of the end of the polymerization process/

Furnace temperature control – 1 pc. (Thermal converter TSP1-3-Pt100)

Convection fan – provided;

Exhaust fan – provided.

Heating type – heating elements (ribbed) of 2.0 kW, mounted in a separate thermoblock with convection. Heat is distributed from the thermoblock throughout the entire volume of the furnace using ventilation ducts (also diesel, gas burners).

Polymerization process

painted products are loaded automatically or manually into the oven. The stove is closed with doors or, in an automatic version, with an air curtain that does not allow warm air to pass through;
on the control panel, the specialist sets the baking program;
the curing oven starts to heat up. When the temperature reaches 130 ° C, smoke begins to emerge from the powder paint. Automatically with this process, the exhaust fan is turned on to suck smoke out of the polymerization oven;
after completion of polymerization, the equipment beeps to stop operation. The product can be pulled out of the oven.

Technical features:

from the state of zero temperature, the polymerization oven is heated to the operating temperature from 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the provided power;
the automatic system is designed so that the oven turns off at the end of the polymerization process and gives a sound signal to the workers.
