Recuperation system in powder coating

All necessary equipment is applied in modern spraying chambers. For example, special filters in the spraying chambers helps to reuse unapplied paint (recovery). Typically, the loss in the collection system is no more than 5% of the total volume.

Only 70% of the paint is deposited on the product while powder coating, the rest is spreading around the spraying chamber.

A filtration system helps to collect and reuse the unapplied paint. Unapplied paint is captured by blowing the working space with an airstream, filtered and went into a special hopper.

Cyclonic recuperation system

Unapplied powder paint is sucked into the recuperation system by air at a speed of 18–20 m / s. Then the paint flows to the cyclone. It is screened out and drops further into the hopper at the bottom of the cyclone.

Then the air goes into the bag filter. Paint less than 20 microns settles there. Through a fine filter, already clean air leaves the recuperation system into the room. And the paint from the hopper is used for reapplication.

There are rules that must be followed in order to obtain reusable powder paint:

• do not mix paints, especially different types. The “least evil” in mixing is that you will get the wrong gloss, but “the greatest” is a poor-quality coating with various defects;
• while reapplication, the volume of the recuperator should not exceed 50% of the total paint volume, this way you risk to receive too thin coating due to the large number of small particles of paint;
• use a vibrating sieve. Before you start painting, sift the paint through a vibrating sieve (vibrating table). You will mix the old paint with the new ones better in this way and eliminate the possibility of contamination.

There are situations when the recooler can no longer be used:

• the paint has already been used several times (perhaps a batch of poor quality paint, you need to replace it);
• you started painting with a different type / manufacturer of paint;
• dirt, lumps, etc. appear in the paint due to incorrect storage conditions.
