Complex shapes powder coating

Powder paint is widely used in many fields for obtaining coatings with high protective and  decorative quality. And it is the best solution for coloring products of complex shapes: furniture elements, doors, hardware and parts of various equipment. Particularly, it is excellent for dyeing products from component parts. Powder paint fits well to welded spots and even hides them.

The powder applied to corners, canals, hollows and all kinds of openings, easily. However, it  proceeds easily for those who understand powder coating technology and already have experience with similar materials.

Benefits of powder coating

Powder paint ensures absolute coating uniformity on products of any configuration , even on a relief surface. Due to the special application technology the powder coating does not form drips and unpainted areas.

The powder is very cost effective to use. Everything that does not coats the item is sent back to work immediately. Material losses are reduced to 2%.

This type of paint does not need to be applied in several layers. The first one can give you the required thickness.

And also powder paint is strong, durable, resistant to chemical and physical influences.

Powder painting stages

The powder coating process is divided into several important stages.

The first is preparation. Thorough cleaning is a guarantee of a high-quality coating, good adhesion and defects apierence free. The product must be degreased, remove all dirt, oils, greases, etc. Sometimes the product must also be chromated or phosphated.

The second stage is the primer. The use of a powder primer increases adhesion, removes the smallest irregularities and allows to obtain an ideal base for painting.

The third stage is staining. The prepared product is suspended in a spraying chamber and powder is sprayed onto it with a pistol.

The fourth stage is polymerization. At this stage, the final powder coating is formed. For this, the product is placed in a polymerization oven. It heats up, the paint melts and hardens.

After polymerization, the product can already be used.

Difficulties in dyeing products with complex shapes

The most difficult thing in such cases is painting over the corners. The fact is that sometimes painters are faced with the effects of the Faraday cage and cannot color the products with high quality. In order to avoid this problem a tribostatic gun must be used. It does not generate current and the paint settles normally on the surface. Also, It is worth trying to change the position of the gun: closer or further.

If you need to paint small products with powder, then it is better to hang several elements in the spraying chamber at once. But on the distance for proper side painting.

Of course, it is better to rely on automatic lines for coloring products with complex shapes.
