Aluminum and powder paint: perfect compatibility

The use of aluminum profiles is very common in our environment. Even in everyday life, everyone encounters things for the creation of which aluminum was used. These are skirting boards and cornices, sinks, window sills, the machine-building industry from cars to ships and elevators at home – all this requires the use of good metal. After all, if you compare it with other materials, you can easily determine the advantages of aluminum: it is strong and stable, at the same time practical and easy to use. With it, you can create products of the required shape and thickness.

The use of aluminum in construction and architecture.

So, the production of aluminum is really a very popular thing. If once it was very expensive, today it is this material that any production can afford. By the way, aluminum, as a material used in construction, is attributed to the so-called “green material”, that is, it does not harm the environment. It is hardy and resistant to external natural factors. The material is absolutely non-toxic, so it is boldly used in everyday life, and it is also subject to further processing and reuse, that is, it does not form a single emission of harmful substances and does not litter the environment.

Aluminum profiles are especially popular today in the construction of building facades. This increases their energy efficiency and the general level of comfort of the inhabitants due to their good thermal conductivity.

It is interesting that for us aluminum in construction is not something surprising, and even at the beginning of the last century, people could not even dream of cities with stylish and shining skyscrapers. In addition, no one is limited to the boring silver color of metal, but paints it as soon as they please. However, dyeing aluminum isn’t just for a pretty look.

Aluminum painting

It is important to remember that even such a durable material requires additional protection. After all, the first thing that can hit any metal is corrosion. The appearance of rust not only spoils the picture, but also reduces the shelf life.

Nothing can insure aluminum against such troubles.

To insure – no, but you can warn – reliable coverage. First of all, it should not perform a decorative function, but a protective one. In the case of metal coating, powder painting is the best option, because this paint has the properties of a strong adhesion to the surface and forms a stable protective layer.

Therefore, wherever aluminum is used, it is worth remembering that proper processing and protection is needed for any material.

Why Powder Coating?

Powder coating technology and aluminum products are perfectly matched. The metal favorably tolerates heating in the oven and the actual polymerization. Therefore, the use of this type of staining has long served metal materials and satisfies human needs, both in quality and efficiency, economy and ease of use.

The coating itself turns aluminum into a corrosion-resistant material. However, this effect can be achieved only by observing the important rules for preparing the material for painting.

The reason for choosing a powder coating is its high protective decorative properties. Due to the fact that the paint is applied using an electric charge, the particles are deposited evenly and fill the entire space. And the technology of heat treatment in polymer ovens allows the paint to penetrate into the top layer and firmly fix, which makes it resistant to temperature extremes.

Preparation of aluminum surfaces for painting

If you skip this important stage, the coating can turn out not only unattractive, but also unstable and generally reduce the material’s resistance to harmful effects. Therefore, the surface is treated, all irregularities are cleaned and degreased. After that, the aluminum profile must be suspended in a powder spraying chamber, painted and sent to a polymerization oven to form a coating. It is important to adhere to the paint cure times recommended by the powder manufacturer. Overbaking and underbaking can result in poor coverage.

Color spectrum

Unfortunately, these polymer paints cannot be mixed, however this is a minor problem because the range of powder colors is simply enormous. Therefore, unexpected problems with the choice of design and texture may even appear, since the choice is really large and the eyes simply run up.
