A transport system is usually installed between these zones. Of course, it is possible for the painter to do everything himself, but a transport system reduces the risk of coating defects.

Preparing car rims

The most important thing in powder painting is product preparation. Preparation consists of cleaning the surface, degreasing and removing all contaminants. Dry the disc after processing.

There must be:

  • sandblasting, which removes paint residues and rust from the surface.
  • system of baths for degreasing and rinsing.
  • drying chamber.

Any dirt on the car rims can affect poor quality of coating. In order to do that you will have to repeat the process and apply another amount of paint again.

It is important to carry out painting immediately after preparation, because over time, dust will settle on the metal again and it must be removed.

Paint application

Powder paint is applied in a special spraying chamber. It is equipped with a ventilation and filtration system. The spray chamber shields the painting area from the entire room and collects powder that has not settled on the product. Then this powder passes through the recovery system and goes back to work.

The spraying chamber can be box and tunnel ones. In box models, the product is suspended through one hole painted through it and removed. Tunnel models have an entrance and an exit. The product is suspended from the one side and on the other it comes out. Such cameras require a transport system.

A spray gun is required to spray powder directly onto the product. They are electrostatic and tribostatic. They differ in the way the particles are charged. The former do this through an external source, and the latter through friction. The electrostatic particle gun requires an external generator that supplies high voltage to the corona electrode. This gives the powder particles a charge. And in a tribostatic gun, the powder is charged by friction against a special surface of the device barrel.

Polymerization oven

In the polymerization oven, the solid particles of the powder are melted and hardened to form a uniform final coating over the entire car rims surface. Its power and heating temperature depend on the size of the oven and the number of items that are painted.

Compact cameras are suitable for painting car rims. But if, in addition to the discs, something else is to be painted, then the oven must be chosen based on the size of the largest part.
