How to clean a spray booth
A spray booth is a special powder coating device that allows to apply paint as evenly as possible.
It consists of a working booth, a filter unit and a control panel.
Powder particles are removed from the air in the spray booth by special filters or a moving filtering belt made of porous material.
The booth needs regular cleaning. Otherwise, the filters will clog, the air will be poorly cleaned and paint will accumulate on the walls.
Booth filters are automatically cleaned inside by pneumatic impact for proper work and constant air draft . The cleaning frequency can be set on the control panel.
But paint particles settle not only on filters but also on other surfaces. The layer of powder is constantly increasing, hardened and it will be very difficult to remove if the device is not regularly cleaned.
Therefore, we will instruct you in spray booth cleaning.
- Isolate the camera space
Separate the booth from other equipment to prevent powder residues get to other lines during cleaning.
- Clean the surrounding area with a vacuum cleaner
The paint, which is blown out by the air stream from the sprayer can get into the space around the camera. It should be vacuumed.
- Clean or replace filters
The filters in the spray booth are strongly worn out during operation. They need to be changed twice a year. But sometimes more often. It all depends on the specific case. It is necessary to clean them with air. They will last longer this way.
- Replace the air flaps
Dampers regulate the amount of air in the room and the concentration of non-explosive mixtures. Change their filters regularly.
- Check the illumination
Paint is also constantly deposited on the lightbulbs. Wipe them down constantly. If they have a lot of layers replace them for new ones. For sure replace flickering lamps. They are bad for the eyesight of workers and also affects painting quality.
- Check the operation of the electric motors that heat the air.
Exam if everything works and check the rotor and stator mountings. Remove paint from electric motors if you visually indicate that.
- Clean the walls of the booth
You can clean the walls of the equipment yourself, using improvised means. Old paint layers are removed with sandblasting. The paint easily beats off the wall due to the strong pressure of the air-sand mixture. Strong and old contaminants on the equipment are easier to remove with reactive solvents.

The camera should be cleaned before each color change. Unless it gets dirty while you use the only one color.
Do this regularly. A dirty camera can cause uneven coating on the product with different colored particles. And also the consumption of powder may increase.
