Painting MDF in an automatic powder coating line

Technologies in the powder industry are being modernized at a rapid pace and allow painting almost any surface. Recently, it became possible to paint with MDF powder paint.

MDF is a material that is used almost everywhere: from furniture to flooring. MDF is a medium density fiberboard.

Usually, small holes are made in those places where the connection of the workers will pass during the assembly of the product. At this stage, it is necessary to once again qualitatively check the parts for defects, and remove dust.

Preheating

Before starting the painting process, the MDF parts should be heated. Therefore, the part is transported along the transport system to the drying oven. Infrared emitters are used for heating. When the part is heated, its electrical conductivity increases.

Paint application

Then the part goes into the spraying chamber. Here it is completely covered with powder paint of the required color.

Polymerization of paint

After applying powder paint, MDF is transferred to the polymerization oven, where, under the influence of temperatures, the paint melts and polymerizes. Usually this process takes place at a temperature of 130-150 °C. It is not worth setting the temperature higher, MDF may not withstand.

Finished goods

Allow the parts to cool after polymerization. You can later remove them from the transport system and move them to the assembly shop or warehouse.

The complete cycle time is from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the capacity of the automatic powder spraying system.
