Tips for choosing a powder coating transport system
The choice of a transport system primarily depends on the production, the desired layout, engineering support, the characteristics of the painted products, the duration and volume of work.
Details of production will help determine the path of the system and its overall layout. This should be a drawing of the premises and equipment. It must indicate the line of columns and the height of the workshop, the location of ventilation, fire hydrants and utilities.
It is very important to know exactly what products will be painted: their height, length and weight. If it is not possible to determine the size of the painted parts exactly then it is better to take all the equipment “with a margin”. In addition to standard data on parts, it is also desirable to know their orientation. This will help to design a powder coating line correctly : areas for cleaning, rinsing the product and applying powder.
It is important to pay attention not only to the maximum size of the product but also to the group suspension parts parameters (maximum cross section).
Knowing the required data about the products to be painted it is possible to determine the throughput of the transport system and operating speeds.
Calculating the transport system it is obligatory to take into account the clearance between the bottom and top of the part. The moving product along the transport system should not touch anything and powder should not settle on non-removable parts of the equipment.
It is important to know the heat capacity of the product especially if its vage may fluctuate due to temperature effects. This affects the specific characteristics of the conveyor.
