Powder polymer spraying area exploitation

Terms of use. Requirements to set equipment placed in production facilities.

Equipment exploitation is allowed in closed rooms at temperatures from +10C to + 40C, without aggressive vapors and suspensions.

The technological painting operations of powder materials are located in explosive zones class B-IIa in accordance with the requirements of the “Rules for Electrical Installations”.

To operate the kit in the production area, the following areas are required:

  • Loading area
  • Transport system
  • Surface preparation area
  • Spraying area (spraying chamber)
  • Polymerization chamber
  • Cooling section

The dimensions of the sections are determined on the nomenclature conditions, seriality, overall and weight characteristics of the sprayed parts.

The location of the site on production areas should provide conditions for general workshop safe operation, evacuation routes, etc.

Industrial rooms in an area with a radius of 5 m from the edges of the checkpoint must comply with category B according to SNIP 2.09.02-85.

General shop electrical equipment within a 5-meter zone must have an IP54 protection class.

It is unacceptable to combine the outlet of the dust collector (recuperator) with the general ventilation system.

It is necessary to comply with the requirements of DSTU 12.1.018-86, Rules for protection against static electricity in the chemical, petrochemical and oil refining industries.

Indication of security measures.

Safety requirements for the coating of products with powder polymer materials must comply with DSTU 9.410-88, clause 2.

When performing technological operations in various modes of equipment operation, ensure the following safety measures: fire and explosion safety.

The indicator of fire and explosion safety of powder materials according to DSTU 9.410-88

Appendix 11 ( interacting with water, air oxygen and other substances, powder materials are not capable of exploding and burning).

The technological process of powder materials coating operations belong to B-IIa class of explosive zones by DSTU 9.410-88 clause 2.5. electrical safety.

The source of electrical hazard is electrical equipment (heating elements, electric motors, control unit equipment, wiring), installations, static electricity discharges that occur while polymer coatings formats on the surfaces of parts and products. Electrical injuries can be occured while working on an ungrounded installation and insulation damages of the live wires and devices. Electrical safety measures in accordance with DSTU 12.2.007-75.

  1. The person responsible for equipment  operations should: be at least 18 years old, to have passed a medical examination, have been instructed on safety work, have studied the device and working procedure on it.
  2. Persons allowed to work with equipment must pass medical examination, periodically.
  3. Workers of the installation must be provided with overalls and personal hygiene products in accordance with DSTU 12.4.011-87.
  4. To ensure fire and electrical work safety, the equipment must be grounded reliably. The equipment must be connected to the ground loop by bolting or welding.
  5. It is forbidden to work in the spray chamber when the dust collection unit (recuperator) is not in operation.
  6. The equipment must have local fire extinguishing means of the NP-1, NP-5 types.
  7. The area of the spraying and recuperation chamber should be equipped with nozzles of the general shop fire extinguishing system.
  8. Organizational and technical measures necessary for the safe operation of the equipment obtaining powder polymer coatings in accordance with DSTU 12.1.041-83 are included in the shop Instruction on work safety.
  9. Maintenance and work with the equipment is carried out simultaneously by two workers (the operator of the polymerization chamber and the worker for spraying).
  10. Operation and maintenance of the checkpoint must be carried out in accordance with the current “Safety regulations for the operation of electrical installations of consumers” and “Rules for the operation of electrical installations of consumers”, approved by the Ukrainian State Inspection of Energy Supervision.
  11. The enterprise must develop and inform workers engaged with equipment about safety instructions and operating rules.
