Powder spray booth types

A spray booth is a device designed to take in polluted air, filter it and supply purified air to the painting area. Also in the spray booth the powder is separated from the air and sent back to work. Painting booths save a significant amount of money on the fact that the powder is practically not lost. The cost of a spray booth depends on its size and type. And the dimensions of the chamber directly depend on the dimensions of the painted products. This is important as the parts must fit inside the device. And then we will tell you about the types of spray chambers, their difference, so that you can decide on the option that suits the needs of your production.

Spray booth: types

The main types of spray booths: dead-end and through-passage, with an inverted and floor conveyor, single-station and double-station.

Let’s start with the latter. Single-station ones are equipped with one fan and recuperator. They have one place for one painter who can spray powder. The two-station have two fans and two recuperators. And also two workplaces for two painters or one who will bypass the camera.

Dead-end chambers are needed in order to paint products in small-scale production. Or in a large production, if there are parts that need to be painted separately. As a rule, manual powder spraying takes place in such chambers. They have only one hole through which you can load / unload products and paint them through it. The sizes of these chambers can be very different: very small, when the painter is standing outside the chamber, and large, in which there is space for the painter inside.

Pass-through cameras are installed on automatic powder coating lines. As a rule, they are already taken for large-scale production. Parts of completely different sizes and shapes can be painted in them. Automatic installations provide high-quality coloring of products of even the most complex shape with many angles and bends. Such chambers are equipped with several openings for loading and unloading products along the conveyor. They also have openings for painting. A painter can work through them, painting independently. Or an automatic spray installation is installed there. Automatic spray guns can move, depending on the settings, and thus cover the entire surface. Pass-through chambers are very convenient when you need to paint a product from both sides simultaneously. In order to configure and fully control the operation of the device, a special control unit is provided. It also has a button that allows the painter to stop the device in an emergency.

For coloring small products, specially small-sized cameras are selected. There are also cargo spray booths. They allow very large items to be painted. For example, cars.

Chambers equipped with an inverted conveyor only work on transport systems with spindles or yokes that hold the items to be painted. And devices with a floor conveyor have a belt, gear or roller transmission of products. They are mainly used for painting large parts.

If you want to buy a spray booth, experts can help you with the choice of a suitable device. The price for it, as we already wrote, depends on the type and dimensions. We highly recommend not trying to do it yourself.
